What’s New Since Build 4
Tester changelog since Build 4. Prepared for the next TestFlight release.
Highlights
- Company progression: earn Reputation through adventures, advance through Company Ranks I–X, and receive Field Pace I at Rank I.
- A tougher repeatable finale: Master Plus is the new final difficulty and can be replayed indefinitely while retaining Company progression.
- New Broken Wagon challenge: choose an approach, use party-specific advantages, and resolve the encounter once per adventure run.
- More meaningful resources: camps heal living heroes free once per run, some treasure shifts toward gold, chests can award shop consumables, and fleeing now costs a provision.
- Clearer play and presentation: consistent focus feedback, stronger selected targets, improved completion and character-sheet presentation, credits, refreshed lobby art, and an ultrawide dice-display fix.
Company Reputation and Ranks
- Your Company now earns Reputation for completing adventures, with higher difficulties awarding more.
- Progress through Company Ranks I–X, track your next threshold and advancement history in the Company Ledger, and receive a dedicated rank celebration.
- Rank I grants Field Pace I, increasing exploration movement speed by 20% without changing combat pacing.
- Existing Companies begin at Rank I with zero Reputation. Previous completions are not awarded retroactively.
- Reputation stays with its campaign and carries forward through subsequent runs. Later-rank benefits will come in future updates.
Adventure Progression and Master Plus
- The difficulty order is now Basic → Advanced → Expert → Master → Master Plus.
- Advance difficulty from the selected adventure’s page, where you normally start or resume an expedition.
- Advanced uses a red glow, Expert blue, and Master and Master Plus green. Completed labels display a checkmark.
- Unfinished expeditions appear first on the bookshelf, ordered by most recently played and marked IN PROGRESS.
- Master Plus is a much harder final challenge. Once completed, replay it indefinitely at the same difficulty while retaining Company progression; existing character and upgrade caps still apply.
New Broken Wagon Challenge
- Broken Cart now includes an optional encounter: search the wreck, follow the tracks, pull the wagon free, or—with a living Spargle in the active party—Ask the Vines.
- Relevant party members improve your chances. Each approach shows its difficulty and bonuses before a d20 roll reveals the outcome.
- Challenges resolve once per run. Leaving before rolling keeps the encounter available; returning or loading afterward preserves the result without repeating rewards.
Camps, Provisions, and Treasure
- Camps restore living party members for free, once per campsite per adventure run. Used camps display CAMP USED and refresh on a new run; fallen heroes still require resurrection.
- Old Road and Broken Cart chest rewards replace routine provisions with 15 additional base gold. Fallen Bridge retains its one-provision reward, and routine provision rewards no longer increase with difficulty.
- Noncombat chests have a one-in-six chance to award a bonus shop consumable, with equal odds for each available item. A full stack converts the bonus to difficulty-scaled gold.
- Fleeing now costs one provision plus the existing 5% gold penalty. The interface explains when you lack the required provision.
Clearer Controls and Combat Targets
- Blue hover and controller-focus feedback is now consistent across buttons, toolbar icons, adventure books, sliders, and lists. Touch interactions also clear lingering hover effects.
- Selected allies and enemies use a darker slate background with ivory text, keeping selection distinct from hover or controller focus.
- Shield Wall now counts as defended against effects such as Dreadbell, without stacking an additional damage reduction with Defend.
Presentation and Interface Improvements
- Adventure Complete is larger, more luminous, and centered properly, including on ultrawide screens.
- Dismissing a rank notice no longer restarts the completion celebration.
- The Character Sheet toolbar button now also closes the sheet. Its logo is larger and positioned at the bottom right, with spells and abilities scrolling above it.
- A scrollable Credits page is available from the Game Menu, and lobby artwork has been refreshed.
Dice Display Fix
Fixed an ultrawide layout issue where a two-digit dice result could display only its first digit, making a roll such as 14 appear as 1.
This was a visual problem. Actual combat rolls, calculations, and outcomes were unaffected. Dice readability now has dedicated regression coverage across multiple screen sizes.
What We’d Love Testers to Check
- Company Reputation, rank notices, and persistence when switching campaigns.
- Broken Wagon outcomes with different party compositions.
- Free campsite use, chest bonuses, and fleeing with or without provisions.
- Difficulty advancement and repeatable Master Plus runs.
- Selected combat targets, dice readability, and touch/controller feedback.
- Save/load, background/resume, and audio on iPad and iPhone.
Balance remains in alpha, especially Master Plus, Reputation thresholds, and supply rewards. Please include your device and difficulty when reporting problems, particularly lost progress, duplicate rewards, confusing navigation, or clipped text.
