Alpha Testing Notes
5.3.2
Build 15
Notes posted
What’s New Since Build 14
The bones have learned new tricks, the stones have new stories, and Black Tundra has acquired a few very chilly opinions.
Highlights
- Dice now make a proper entrance: shared 3D d20s and d6s roll through combat, challenges, bonus chests, and Moonbones. Obsidian & Gold is the fresh default, while classic dice and existing color choices remain available.
- Moonbones invites you to the table: the Fallen Bridge travelers offer a reusable four-round dice game with a parchment board, big live dice, a single Little Die reroll, persistent paid games, and a gold purse that remembers what happened.
- Dawn Stones have learned the long way around: ten cycle visions and three possible returns bring new reading, answer, hint, retry, and save-friendly paths to the Forsaken Woods event.
- Black Tundra gains two sharp-edged prototypes: help the Cloud Bridge wizard guide three elementals safely across, then confront a provisional White Dragon in Dragon’s Lair.
- Results wait for the roll: dice reveals, sound, rewards, damage, and advancement stay in step, while pause, skip, settings, and saved outcomes keep the authoritative result intact.
Availability
These notes are posted for the selected Build 15 source; they do not announce an app release. Apple native builds, physical-device acceptance, upload, and TestFlight availability are still pending. The first priority before further features is physical-device dice testing; this update makes no blanket 60 fps promise.
Shared 3D dice
Native 3D d20 and d6 presentation now serves combat, ordinary challenges, bonus chest rolls, and Moonbones. Normal rolls take about one second, show the committed face before results resolve, and use verified faces and recessed d6 pips. Visual motion never changes gameplay randomness.
Settings → Dice → 3D Dice starts ON for new or reset device preferences; turning it OFF restores the familiar classic dice and remains saved on that device. Obsidian & Gold is the new default theme, but valid existing choices stay as they are. During an active native roll, the game requests a temporary frame-rate minimum and then restores the saved policy—an aid to the roll, not a performance guarantee for every device.
Skipping settles the same result. Inspection pauses and resumes the display, settings changes keep it honest, and restored outcomes return quietly without replaying rewards. Chest celebrations, combat changes, and Moonbones choices wait for their dice to land.
Moonbones at Fallen Bridge
At The Forsaken Woods’ Fallen Bridge, the traveling hosts offer JOIN GAME. Opening is free; choosing to play stakes 10 gold, and a win returns 20 total. In four rounds, use a d20 plus or minus a d6 to claim Moon, Eye, and Crown. One Little Die reroll is available per game; duplicate claims spend a round and mark the result with a red X. There are no XP, achievement, tier, or Rank bonuses attached to the wager.
The final rolling table keeps the d20 on the left and d6 on the right, with compact readouts, current gold, illustrated achievements, and clear win/lose banners. Paid Close, reopen, and load preserve dice, claims, reroll, and stake; hosts also keep a cumulative wins, losses, and net-gold summary. Replaying after an outcome pays a fresh stake. The normal three-win table limit is deliberately off for this testing cycle, so please keep playing; the configurable production target remains three wins.
Dawn Stones: three hours, many visions
The required Forsaken Woods event now draws from ten cycle-of-life visions and three returns. Read the vision first, then answer Dawn, Day, or Dusk on a separate page. The nearby carving and renewed art offer a clearer clue without spoiling the journey.
A wrong answer costs one nonlethal HP per living active hero, never dropping a hero below one HP and never spending mana or stamina. Retry keeps the same question; Close, review, and save/load preserve progress. Correct answers and the hint keep their once-only rewards, while older saves and prior solved rewards remain respected.
Black Tundra: the bridge and the lair
Magic Cloud Bridge now presents a visible wizard with Fire, Ice, and Air elementals, plus an explicit CONFRONT choice. Guide the group across using one of three persisted crossing variants. Invalid moves cost nothing, Reset keeps the chosen variant, Close retains progress, and success thanks the Company and grants its reward once.
Dragon’s Lair now holds a fully grounded White Dragon with an explicit CONFRONT interaction. The provisional encounter has editable boss tuning and a clearly warned frost attack; victory allows travel onward. Please test it, but treat balance and the rest of Black Tundra as provisional. Black Tundra remains a preview, not the populated 5.4 adventure.
Compatibility and polish
Existing stable IDs, artwork references, campaign storage, saved receipts, earned access, and dice preferences are preserved. Legacy dice retain their classic fallback, saved Moonbones games retain their paid state, Dawn Stones protects prior rewards, and the Black Tundra prototypes remember their scoped progress. No intentional save wipe is required.
The accepted Apple TV layout and icon fixes from Build 14 remain in the source, but they are not new Build 15 features. Apple TV remains a separate local development assessment rather than a newly announced distribution.
What We’d Love You to Test
- Start with physical-device dice: on iPhone and iPad, compare first, repeated, and busy-play rolls. Check d20 faces, distinct 6/9, d6 pips, shadows, safe areas, clipping, flicker, stutter, and a saved 30 fps preference returning after a roll.
- Follow dice everywhere: test 3D Dice ON/OFF, Obsidian & Gold and another color, then combat, challenges, bonus chests, and Moonbones. Skip early and late, pause through inspection, background/resume, and change modes during a roll—nothing should resolve or pay twice.
- Play Moonbones repeatedly: visit Fallen Bridge, stake the game, check the big dice, reroll, duplicate X, purse, achievements, Close/reopen/load, and host summary. The three-win cap is OFF for testing.
- Try the renewed Forsaken Woods and Black Tundra prototypes: test Dawn Stones reading, answers, hint, retries, and save recovery. At Cloud Bridge try valid and invalid crossings, Reset, Close/resume, and save/load; at Dragon’s Lair check the White Dragon’s grounded art, warned breath, victory, and onward travel.
- Report usable detail: include exact build, device and OS, resolution/refresh, dice mode and color, location, party, difficulty, orientation, and reproduction steps. A short recording is especially useful for motion issues; also check readable labels, touch/controller focus, and preserved saves.
